This Sunday we are continuing to look at John Wesley’s well-known sermon “The Use of Money” written in the 18th century. The founder of Methodism summed up the use of money this way: Earn all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can. There are some caveats to these points of course, but these are words we can still live by today. This Sunday we will look at “Save all you can.” Wesley’s words on this point: when people spend money on things they do not really need, they begin to want more things they do not need. Instead of satisfying their desires, they only increase them. Our scripture is from Matthew 6: 19-34.
