Michael Sanflippo began his tenure as Music Director at Grace UMC in January 2015. Mike recently settled in Palm Coast, after more than two decades living and working in the Northern New Jersey area. There he directed several choruses including the Apprentice Chorus of the Newark Boys Chorus School, the training chorus for the celebrated Newark Boys Chorus. Additionally in Newark, Mike developed a challenging and thriving music theory and ear-training program that he taught to all the boys in the school. As Director of Music at Community United Methodist Church in Roselle Park, he conducted the Sanctuary Choir, two Handbell Choirs, and a children’s chorus, and organized monthly community performances. In addition, he directed two community choruses, Concord Singers (Summit, NJ, a women’s chorus) and Harmony Singers (Wayne, NJ, a mixed ensemble). Mike holds degrees from Philadelphia College of Performing Arts and Teachers College of Columbia University, and spent a year the Kodály Pedagogical Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary.
Our Chancel Choir provides an anthem and musical leadership at the 11 a.m. traditional worship service. The worship format includes both traditional and contemporary music and features a choir member or guest sharing special music at 7:45am and 11am each week.
Choir rehearsal is held each Wednesday (September through May) at 7:00 p.m. and is open to new members.
